In order to rent a car on the island, you’ll need to be over the age of 21, have a valid driver’s license, your passport and a major credit card.

If you’re going to rent a car, it’s also important to familiarize yourself with the local rules of the road, which will likely differ from what you’re used to. For instance, you must drive on the left-hand side, you can turn left at a red light after a full stop, and speed limits range from 25 to 50 miles per hour.

Grand Cayman is about a 1 hour, 10 minute flight from Miami. If you’re connecting from Nashville, plan for roughly a 2 hour, 20 minute flight to Miami before your connection to Grand Cayman.

On your trip down, checked baggage should be tagged through to Grand Cayman—confirm at your departure airport.
